Furan-based plastics are a hot topic right now, and partners of the FURIOUS project do not want to miss any opportunity to discuss together the advances needed to achieve the milestones of the project. This time, partners met in Bologna, Italy, at the premises of the Department Of Civil, Chemical, Environmental, and Materials Engineering of the University of Bologna.
The meeting started with the summary on all the duties by Debora Puglia, project coordinator. A general discussion on the definition of raw material and application requirements for the furan-based polyesters then happened, followed by a presentation on circular by design concepts.
During the second day, the discussion focused on the synthesis and characterization of the furan-based polymers. Then, partners focused on the demonstrators of the FURIOUS project, in which the furan polymers will be tested: electronic and biomedical packaging, automotive and underwater sensors and robots.
The day closed with a general overview of of sustainability and economical assessment, as well as the main results in communication and dissemination.
Next meeting, planned for June 2024, will take place in Poland.
